The road to holiness Being more like Jesus requires a lot of effort and intention, from what I’ve learnt in my journey with God, the first step to being holy is reverence. Reverencing God means to take him in the most high regard and to show deep respect for him. It is important that we fear God in order to achieve all that God wants us to achieve in this life and in order to be all that he created us to be. Fearing God is the first step to acquiring wisdom (Proverbs 1:7), it forms a boundary and limitation from what we should and shouldn’t do as children of God, the wisdom that comes from God stops us from operating in a worldly standard and having a worldly mentality, instead we operate and live in the standard that God has set for us. It should be our intention then to reverence God, to obey his every command even when it gets tempting and difficult, which it always does, and that is why we have to take up our cross everyday just as Christ did.
